Ban on WhatsApp voice and video call feature lifted in Saudi Arabia

Many WhatsApp users in Saudi Arabia have reported that the app's voice and video calling feature has been enabled after years of restrictions.

This sudden activation has raised questions, especially at a time when no prior announcement was made by the authorities. Furthermore, there has been no official confirmation as to whether this is a permanent or temporary move.

Abdullah Al-Subai, a technology expert in Saudi Arabia, said the move is in line with Saudi Arabia's efforts to promote telecommunications and digital infrastructure and will likely improve communications for users.

It should be noted that WhatsApp, the world's most widely used messaging app, introduced voice calls in 2015 and video calls in 2016. However, these features were blocked due to regulatory policies in Saudi Arabia.
