Artificial intelligence (AI) has changed the nature of phishing attacks, making them extremely difficult to identify immediately. Experts say users need to take immediate steps to protect their accounts.

According to cybersecurity company Check Point, Google is currently the largest technology company affected by phishing attacks, while Microsoft is in second place.

These attacks are used to obtain login details from Gmail users, and these attacks are becoming more sophisticated in 2025 due to AI.

Google has made it clear to users that it will never call or email them to reset their passwords or resolve security issues. If someone claims to do so and asks for login information, it would be a scam.

One way to protect your Gmail account is to upgrade to passkeys. Unlike passwords, passkeys provide stronger security and allow you to sign in using your fingerprint, face scan, or device lock.

Google still allows you to keep passwords as a backup, but you should update your password, enable two-factor authentication via a trusted device or app.

As AI threats continue to grow, security experts and even the FBI have begun to warn that traditional security methods cannot mitigate these threats.
